The Nagpur police crime branch has taken action against thieves and burglars, successfully resolving nine cases in two operations. In one operation, two burglars were caught and seven cases were solved. The city police have been focusing on addressing concerns regarding vehicle thefts and burglaries. Recently, valuables worth Rs6.54 lakh were stolen from Mukesh Nipani's residence in Vaishali Nagar, leading to a burglary case investigation by Pachpaoli police and a parallel probe by the crime branch. Through CCTV footage, the police identified the culprits as Ramakant (27) and Narendra (23), who confessed to multiple burglaries and vehicle thefts. Stolen items and vehicles valued at Rs9.53 lakh were recovered. The accused, known to be substance abusers, engaged in criminal activities to fuel their habits. Ramakant is also linked to two burglary cases at Kalamna police station. In another case, three individuals were arrested and two vehicle theft cases were solved by crime branch unit 5. This arrest was made following the investigation of a bike theft at Jaripatka police station, resulting in the apprehension of Akash Nagrale (27), Yogesh Chavhan (25), and Devendra Thakre (24) with the help of CCTV footage and intelligence on the ground.Two stolen vehicles worth a total of Rs1.20 lakh have been recovered, along with the bike used in the crime. According to sources, many vehicle thefts take place in the busy or market areas of the city, while most burglaries are reported on the outskirts, which fall under the jurisdiction of police stations like Hudkeshwar, Wathoda, and Pratap Nagar. Local residents have requested increased night patrols by the police to prevent such incidents. Additionally, the police have advised citizens to inform their neighbors and local police stations before leaving the city so that both the authorities and locals can keep a watchful eye on their homes.
